Throwing up the “L” hand gesture no longer means “loser.” It stands for Let’s Get It.
This new-to-the-scene band, Let’s Get It, from Dayton, Ohio, released its debut EP, Digital Spaces, Aug. 4 and is now with the Atticus Tour 2009 along with five other bands.
As strange as it sounds, the band can be compared to Fall Out Boy and Jay-Z. With that said, it’s pretty hard to put these guys into a single genre.
This EP uses all the instruments the band has at its disposal: a piano, guitar, synthesizer and orchestral strings. Five songs comprise the band’s full potential.
The best song on the album, “Do Not Disturb (Tell Me How Bad),” talks about the singer noticing a certain girl who comes to all his shows. “Tell me how bad do you want it? Oh, you want it. But how far is too far?”
The meaning of this song sort of kills it since the band presents the song so well with its catchy lyrics and nice usage of instruments, but it’s still worth a listen. Not to mention, it sticks in audience’s heads easily.
Another of the better songs on the album is “Maps,” “No, I don’t wanna be in love anymore, ‘cause I don’t wanna lose you. These memories used to mean everything to me but I can’t, no I don’t wanna be in love anymore,” laments the singer.
Although this band is still pretty new, it’s evident with its rising number of fans that it will grow into something huge.
