The distinguished student scholarship will award $377 to 36 NE Campus students.
Students with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher, enrolled in classes during the fall 2009 semester and planning to enroll in at least six hours in the spring 2010 semester can apply for the scholarship. Cornerstone students are not eligible for the award.
Each division, including science and technology, humanities and business and social sciences, can choose 12 nominees and 12 alternates to receive the award money, said administrative secretary Stacy Herrera.
Science and technology students can get the applications from department chairs: computer science associate professor Ken Moak and math instructor Greta Harris-Hardland in NTAB, chemistry professor Lillian Hansen and associate professor Charlene Cole in NSCW, health physical education instructor Kevin Harper in NHPE and director of health sciences Woody Kageler in NHSC 1118A.
Business and social science students can get the applications from department chairs: history assistant professor Peter Hacker, government associate professor Bill Ward, sociology professor Murray Fortner, business instructor Sally Proffitt, child development assistant professor Pati Cates and mental health and paralegal associate professor Dolores Sutter.
Humanities students can get the application from department chairs: English professor Eric Devlin, foreign language professor Mary Williams, music instructor Karen Parsons, speech assistant professor Lisa Benedetti and art associate professor Martha Gordon.
Applications are also available through other department faculty.
Some departments require items in addition to the application. For instance, the English department requires an essay with the application.
Students in other departments should check with their department.
The deadline to turn in an application is Nov. 19. Financial Aid will notify finalists by Dec. 11.
