Now-Oct. 10 The Trinity River Equality in Education club concludes its celebration of Gay Pride Week. On Wednesday, students can join TREE’s guest speaker and gay rights activist Mark “Major” Jimenez as he holds a mock same-sex wedding in The Zone at 1 p.m. On Thursday, TREE will host its first ever drag show 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in The Zone.

Now-Oct. 11 TR Campus continues its five-day celebration for its fifth year as a campus. Wednesday features a forum, That Was Random: Understanding Student-Faculty Interactions, 6:15-7 p.m. in the Riverfront Café. Thursday on TRE Campus, a ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held noon-1 p.m. as part of the Trinity River connection. Friday will feature its year-five celebration in the Riverfront Café 2-4 p.m. The events are free to all students. Oct. 9 NE health services will organize a health fair 9 a.m.-2 p.m. in Center Corner (NSTU 1615A). The fair will include free screenings for HIV and syphilis, vision, body mass index, glucose and cholesterol and blood pressure. Students can also register as bone marrow donors. Oct. 11-12 Do the Write Thing, NE Campus’ annual writers’ conference, will be held 1-5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday in Center Corner (NSTU 1615A). Oct. 17 TR Campus’ disability support service will give students a tour of the world of communication through American Sign Language during It’s a Deaf, Deaf World noon-7 p.m. in the Idea Store. The tour will include an opportunity for the hearing to meet and visit with others who are deaf or blind. Reservations are needed for large groups.
