Oct. 16, 22 South career services will sponsor Brand U: Resume Basics 1-2 p.m. Oct. 16 and 11 a.m.-noon Oct. 22 in the SSTU Forum Room. Oct. 17 TR Campus’ disability support services will give students a tour of the world of communication through American Sign Language during It’s a Deaf, Deaf World noon-7 p.m. in the Idea Store. The tour will include an opportunity for the hearing to meet and visit with others who are deaf or blind. Reservations are needed for large groups. Oct. 17 SE student activities, clubs and organizations present the Diversity and Cultural Awareness Expo 10 a.m.-1 p.m. in the North Ballroom. Participants can explore displays relevant to their cultures, countries and backgrounds and see demonstrations and performances. International cuisine will be available for sampling. The introductory module will provide students with information about the SE Leadership Academy. Students will develop a personalized leadership plan and examine definitions of leadership, leadership styles and ethics, leadership challenges and solutions. Oct. 22 Family law mediator Jennifer Caldwell will present Violence Against Women — A Personal Story 12:30-1:30 p.m. in Center Corner (NSTU 1615A) on NE Campus. Caldwell will give a firsthand account of her experience as a trauma survivor. A TCC police officer will also discuss the department’s Victim Assistance Unit. A free lunch will be served. Oct. 22 The SE library will host Don’t Be Scared of E-Books 10-11 a.m. in the library classroom. The workshop shows students how to use e-books available in the library catalog to their fullest potential. Faculty are welcome to attend and see how these services can enhance instruction. Those interested in donating must be at least 17 years old, 110 pounds, have a valid photo ID and not have donated within 56 days. Donors are recommended to be well-hydrated and have eaten recently before donating. The Bone Marrow Registry will also be registering individuals. The free event is open to the public.
