Ongoing Fridays Free breakfast will be provided to veterans on SE Campus 9-11 a.m. in the student activities office (ESCT 1201A).Now-April 1 TR Wellness Club offers free yoga classes 4:30-5:30 p.m. Tuesdays in the Fitness Center (TRTR 1107). Now-April 15 SE and South campuses will offer free income tax preparation to those with annual incomes under $50,000 through the Volunteer Income Assistance program. Hours are 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, 3-7 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday. March 7 The NE English department’s Creative Writing Club will host Share and Write: Poems 6:30-7:15 p.m. in the Heritage Room (NLIB 1129A). Students can bring an original poem to share and then participate in an exercise to write a new poem.

March 7 A free statistics workshop presented by TR math professor Vinh Nguyen will be 1-2 p.m. in TREF 7336 on TR Campus. March 7 SE Campus will host the Student-Led Health Fair 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. in the North Ballroom. Lifetime wellness and culinary arts students will present healthy cooking and physical activity demonstrations. Free food samples and opportunities to participate in physical activities will be available.

March 8, 27 TR advising and counseling center hosts Grad Fest 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on TRTR Main Street for students graduating this spring. The event will help provide one-stop graduation planning where students can confirm degree plans, apply for graduation, visit with university representatives and much more. March 19, 26 John Peter Smith Hospital Network will sponsor a Zumba class on South Campus 5-6 p.m. in the SHPE gym. Zumba instructor Gracie Martinez will present the class to students, faculty and staff of all fitness levels. These are the sixth and seventh classes of the eight-week series. No reservations are required, and participants should dress to exercise.

March 20 Making Great PowerPoint Presentations, a lunchtime workshop series presented by TR lab manager Teresa Williams, will teach participants how to make creative PowerPoints that impress and wow an audience. The workshop is noon-1 p.m. in the TR Discover Center for Student Success (TRTR 3102).

March 21 Counselor Mike Eason will present Anxiety and Depression by 10:40-11:35 a.m. in the North Ballroom on SE Campus. Symptoms and causes of anxiety and depression will be discussed along with treatments for both issues.

March 21 South Campus students will hear about the signs and patterns of suicide from South Campus counselor Leonard Hornsby in his presentation Suicide Awareness at 11 a.m. in the SSTU Texas Room.

March 22 The NW support staff and professional development committee will sponsor a spring gardening workshop with Master Gardeners of DFW 10 a.m.-1 p.m. in WACB 1123. Learn how to prepare for a spring garden including what vegetables and flowers to plant. Registration is required only if professional development credit is needed.

March 23 Budgeting will be presented by Ray Williams on South Campus 11:15 a.m.-noon in the SSTU Texas Room. The workshop is designed to teach students how to manage finances by using cost-effective budgeting strategies and will explore options to get finances in line.

March 23 The TR center for leadership development presents its 15th Leadership eXperience Summit — Leadership in Action featuring Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price 1-3:30 p.m. in the Action Suite (TRTR 4202). The summit keynote will emphasize 21st century leadership principles and will be followed by a panel discussion led by faculty and staff. March 26-27 NE librarian Bonnie Hodges will present Research Made EZ, a student success seminar, 12:30-1:30 p.m. Monday and 5:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Heritage Room (NLIB1129). Hodges will present students with tools they can use on the library’s website to help improve their writing, math, interview and résumé skills.

March 27 NE career and employment services will host a recruitment fair during the Earth Day festival 10 a.m.-noon in the NSTU bookstore hallway. Employers and volunteer agencies will be on site, and career services representatives will offer tips on what to wear and how to get useful information from these agencies.

March 27 South Campus HIV results from the March 20 testing will be available 10 a.m.-noon in SACC 1331.

March 27 Money Management: Budgeting, a lunchtime workshop series presented by Worthington Bank representative Lucas Sawyer, is designed to raise financial awareness and to help participants become more financially responsible. March 27 The SE Campus writing center will hold a grammar workshop at 2 p.m. in ESEE 2227A. In addition to grammar basics, students will learn to check essays for syntax, mixed construction and other issues.

March 28 SE Campus writing center will have a Writing Research Essays workshop at 6 p.m. in ESEE 2227A. The class will focus on forming a thesis or argument, gathering sources, organizing information and using MLA style.

March 28-29 SE Campus career services will host Resumania 9-11 a.m. Wednesday and 1-3 p.m. Thursday on the second floor East Commons bridge. Students can have their résumés reviewed before the upcoming SE job fair in April.

March 28-29 Poet and author Alberto Rios is the featured guest for the NE English department’s Living Literature 7:30-8:50 p.m. Wednesday and 9:30-10:50 a.m. Thursday in Center Corner (NSTU 1615A) on NE Campus. Rios has written 11 books of poetry, three collections of short stories and a memoir. Attendees must RSVP at http://tccdne.volunteerhub.com.

March 30 Submissions for the TR Campus Achieving the Dream essay contest are due at 5 p.m. Students must answer the question “How will I change my world?” The grand prize is tuition for one class. April 4 An MLA Documentation workshop will be held at 2 p.m. in the SE Campus writing center in ESEE 2227A. Information will be given about creating an MLA-style works cited page along with tips on documenting Internet sites and database articles.
