NW students can enjoy the views along Marine Creek Reservoir while putting in some exercise time on the newly installed fitness trail.

“We recently finished construction on the fitness trail, and it will provide students with a great way to get fit while enjoying the lake,” said NW physical education instructor Joshua Tarbay.

The new trail includes a paved pathway along the reservoir with outdoor fitness equipment featured along the trail, he said.

The 1.5-mile path sits on the eastern shore of the reservoir, beginning near the boat ramp on the south side of the campus and ending just north of Chisholm Trail High School.

The trail winds along, providing unobstructed views of the reservoir, and then ventures into a wooded area on the north shore.

“The new trail connects to the larger Marine Creek trail system, providing access to about 18 miles of trails,” Tarbay said.

The fitness path is connected to the larger trail system by a path across the dam on the south end of the lake, where it meets up with the trail in Marine Creek Lake Park.

“It’s a really nice addition to the campus,” Tarbay said, “I hope students use and enjoy the trail system to get some outdoor exercise and fresh air.”
