Talk to focus on abusive relationships

As a part of its 18th Anniversary Network meetings, Women In New Roles will present Out From Behind Closed Doors Saturday, Feb. 10.

Anita Peters, NE Campus counselor, will address the secrecy involved in abusive relationships. Through her presentation, students can “learn how to identify abusive behaviors and how to help someone you care about step from behind closed doors,” she said.

A state-licensed professional counselor who has been on NE for more than 13 years, Peters’ work at TCC includes career, personal and crisis counseling.

Peters also was instrumental in establishing the NE Campus WINR-New Beginnings Program.

Program Director Triesha Light explained the presentation’s significance to the WINR program.

“ We are focusing on domestic violence because many students deal with this [problem] in their lives,” she said.

The WINR Network meets during the fall and spring semesters at Billy Miners Group Room, 150 W. 3rd St. in Sundance Square in Downtown Fort Worth. The meeting time is 12:15-2 p.m. The presentation is free, and weekend parking is free at most lots and meters. The only cost is food.

Light asked that attendees arrive on time to allow time to place food orders.
