TCC campuses to appear in TV series

Instead of TCC students having to head to California, Hollywood just came to TCC.

In the past few weeks, South and NE campuses were filmed for two TV shows.

The cable network TLC filmed on NE Campus Jan. 10 for the new reality series, The Bussey Bunch. The show premiered last night, and the first two episodes will run again tonight.

The show, according to Leah Culton, line producer for Original Media, follows a family of eight as they run Professional Championship Wrestling of Texas.

The youngest Bussey son was interested in starting school again, Cacy Barnard, TCC coordinator of public information, said.

“[He] has had a difficult time this year figuring out his direction,” Culton said.

He was filmed as he talked to an academic advisor, walked around campus and learned about the radiology program.

Though the show premieres Jan. 22 (8 p.m. central on TLC), the footage filmed on NE Campus will be for one of the final episodes of the season.

On Jan. 14, an MTV crew taped a prospective student as he toured South Campus.

The footage was for the award-winning documentary series True Life, which first aired in 1998. This episode is titled “I’m Coming to America.”

The reality show, with a different topic every episode, explores the world of young people as they live their everyday lives.

This episode will examine the life of a refugee from Thailand, among others.

The prospective student spoke to an advisor about wanting to start an ESL program, getting a GED and continuing his education with TCC credits, Barnard said.

A current South Campus student showed him around school.

The episode is set to premiere Feb. 2.
