Q. What are the requirements to start a student organization?
Requirements are simple: Students can [attend school] full-or part-time; a faculty/staff adviser is required; the organization [must be] open to all TCC students.
Q. What does a student need to start a new organization on a campus?
To start a new organization is a very simple process. First, visit your student activities office to complete paperwork, to find a location for meeting and to decide on how to market the new organization to fellow students. Second, get your fellow classmates’ contact information so you can invite them to the first and subsequent meetings.
Q. Are there any limitations to starting a new organization?
There are limitations, for instance, how a student group uses funds from the student activities office.
Q. How long does the process take and why?
If a student has a list of potential new members, a faculty/staff adviser and willingness to complete their organizational paperwork in a timely manner … then the process can be completed within two to four weeks.
Q. What advice would you give students wanting to start their own organization?
Start early asking other classmates you think might want to be in the organization. Ask a faculty/staff member to be your organization’s adviser early in the process. Visit with the staff of the student activities office early in the process.
