Women’s History Month Calendar

Now-March 1 Back to Basics: Surviving the Jungle of Life, the Women in New Roles’ annual art show, ends its run in the Joe B. Rushing Center for Performing Arts Carillon Gallery on South Campus. The exhibit includes 63 works by 15 current and former WINR students.

Now-March 29 TR Campus will display a poster gallery of influential women in the world today on TRTR Main Street.

Now-March 31 A Women’s History Month book display will be available in the TR Campus library.

March 1 South Campus will host a Women’s History Month luncheon 12:30-1:45 p.m. in the SSTU Living Room. WFAA anchor/reporter Shon Gables will speak. The luncheon costs $5 for students and $7.50 for nonstudents, and reservations are required. For more information, call 817-515-4740. Ticket proceeds will benefit the Women’s History Month Scholarship.

March 1-31 Women’s History Month Library Exhibit Women Impacting Business will be displayed in the lobby of the South Campus Jenkins Garrett Library.

March 6 Women in New Roles on South Campus will present Women in Leadership: Applying Leadership Principles in Multiple Roles. Altheria Gaston, South Campus business and behavior science divisional dean, will speak 11:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m. in the SSTU Texas Room. The interactive seminar will concentrate on understanding the value of women’s historical accomplishments.

March 6 Outstanding and Unknown Women in Texas History will be presented by journalist, author, teacher and storyteller Carmen Goldthwaite 11:30 a.m.-12:50 p.m. in the SE Campus library.

March 6 South Campus Women’s History Month Committee and health and physical education presents Brown Bag Luncheon with Tracey Yukich 12:30-1:20 p.m. in the SHPE Gym. Yukich, a participant on The Biggest Loser, will share her story on the transformation of becoming a healthier person, including how it has changed her life and how she is helping others. March 7 The Five Top Myths about HPV will be presented by Marcy Paul, project coordinator for the Center for Community Health  at the University of North Texas Health Science Center, 12:30-1:30 p.m. in Galley (NSTU 1506A) on NE Campus. Students will learn the facts about the human papillomavirus and the vaccine to prevent it. A free lunch will be served. RSVP required at 817-515-6056.

March 8 TR Riverfront Café presents TCC student and singer/songwriter Hilary Tips, who will perform contemporary and pop folk songs 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
