NW Campus music department presents Samantha Woika’s sophomore recital, Centuries of Song, Tuesday, March 4.

Echo Wilson, NW Campus instructor of music, will accompany Woika on the piano.

The recital’s content will range from soulful to comedic and contains music in four different languages.

“This is sure to be a great performance,” Karin Vaught, NW Campus instructor of music (vocals), said. “Just because it’s classical doesn’t mean it’s boring.”

Vaught said their tag for the event is “from the sublime to the hilarious.”

Woika will sing work composed by classical musicians from Samuel Barber to Johann Strauss.

Everyone is encouraged to attend, but students involved in the music department should definitely consider attending because the recital counts toward the concert requirement for music majors, Vaught said.

“These sophomore recitals are like a rite of passage for music students leaving TCC for four-year schools,” she said. “A lot of preparation goes into the recital. Most students will really enjoy the show.”

The recital is 7-8 p.m. in WFAB 1105. The event is free and open to any who want to attend.
