The Tuskegee Airmen were the first African-Americans to fly for the U.S. military and became the largest group ever to receive the Congressional Gold Medal in 2006.
As part of Black History Month celebrations, John Flanagan and Don Elder, military aviators during WWII, and C. D. Rice, historian of the Claude R. Platte D/FW Tuskegee Airman Chapter Inc., spoke on NW Campus Feb. 28.
The men talked about their experiences and brought displays.
The event was sponsored by NW student activities in cooperation with the continuing education department.
In addition, student activities will sponsor a showing of the movie Tuskegee Airmen, Thursday, March 6, at noon in the TV Lounge. Popcorn and soft drinks will be provided.
