Recycling boxes appearing on NE as program begins

NE Campus students can help the environment through a recycling initiative implemented on the campus.

NE Student Ambassadors, the maintenance department and students in Dr. Lori Fowler’s sociology classes are heading a campuswide paper recycling project that not only makes TCC a greener school, but also advocates student involvement.

“We have placed bins in every faculty office and are attempting to place them in every classroom,” Fowler said. “We are determined to reduce our carbon footprint, collecting data on the amount of energy saved through the recycling of paper goods.”

The NE Campus maintenance staff will collect the materials and take them to centers to be recycled.

In May, Fowler and Michael Tankersley, NE Campus plant superintendent, will present their efforts and savings from this semester during a Service Learning Collaboration meeting in an effort to implement aluminum and bottle recycling on campus.

For more information regarding the initiative, contact Fowler at lori.fowler@tccd.edu.

To order more boxes and schedule a pick-up on NE Campus, notify Patricia Carter, NE Campus custodial supervisor, at patricia.carter@tccd.edu.
