NE Campus’ psychology honor society Psi Beta will take 25 chapter members to facilitate the track and field spring Special Olympics April 12 in the University of Texas at Arlington’s Maverick Stadium.

The group will work with special needs children, primarily those with autism, Down syndrome, physical impairments or who are wheelchair bound or amputees.

“We will be helping cheer on and encourage participants from the sidelines and act as chaperones to a specific group to go from event to event,” chapter president Ashley Magers said.

At the end, chapter volunteers will chaperone individuals to the awards ceremony.

“Our goal is to make sure they stay happy and are able to enjoy their time at the Special Olympics,” Magers said.

Psi Beta has volunteered at this event annually since the chapter was founded.
