Where: NW Campus

When: Sept. 11-12, morning and evening sessions were available.

What: Nineteen faculty and staff members participated in 19 different workshops throughout the day on how to be successful in college.

Topics included test anxiety, Campus Cruiser, time management, classroom success, online course survival, fitness and healthy eating habits, sanity in college, money management, resumes and study habits for one’s personality.

Tours of the criminal justice center and information fairs were conducted both days. Registered students received a free breakfast and pizza lunch Tuesday.
The Myers Brothers Band played a live concert Wednesday while students enjoyed hamburgers. Wednesday featured a back-to-school job fair.

“ The two days went by fast when it took a little over six months to put together,” Angela Neary, HPE assistant professor, said.

Goodies: Upon registering, students received a free lunch box with a sport bottle, legal pad, planner and pen or a Student Success Days T-shirt. When students registered, they were entered to win door prizes, awarded on Thursday.

Who: The Student Success Committee and students who had collaborated since February planned the event for all NW Campus students. The idea came from last spring’s NW Visioning sessions.

Why:
Faculty and staff wanted to help students be more successful not only in college but outside as well.

“ In order for students to be successful, we must first give them the information to be successful,” Dr. Elva C. LeBlanc, president of NW Campus, said.
