Campuses providing flu vaccines

TCC campus health centers will dispense flu shots beginning Oct. 17 to students, faculty and the general public.

The shots will be available until the supply is depleted.

The cost is $12.

Individuals interested in receiving vaccinations are required to go to the campus business services office to pay and obtain a voucher to be returned to the campus health center as proof of payment.

The shots will be available in each campus health center during these hours per campus:

NE: Monday-Thursday, 8:30 a.m.-9 p.m., Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

South: Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

NW: Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

SE: Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-8 p.m., Friday 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

People who should get the flu shot
• Children aged 6 months until their 5th birthday
• Pregnant women
• People 50 years of age and older
• People of any age with certain chronic medical conditions
• Residents of nursing homes and other long-term care facilities
People who live with or care for those at high risk for complications from flu, including
• Household contacts of persons at high risk for complications from the flu
• Household contacts and out of home caregivers of children less than 6 months of age
• Healthcare workers
People who should consult a physician before getting vaccinated
• People who have a severe allergy to chicken eggs
• People who have had a severe reaction to an influenza vaccination in the past
• People who developed Guillain-Barré syndrome within six weeks of getting an influenza vaccine previously
• Children less than 6 months of age
Note
• People who have a moderate or severe illness with a fever should wait to get vaccinated until their symptoms lessen.
