CD Review-Jimmy Eat World-Chase This Light

Chase This Light

The same flow of guitars and drums is continued into Jimmy Eat World’s sixth studio album Chase This Light.

The album has the same old Jimmy Eat World sound. The group did not try anything out-of-the-box or new. This is comforting to the classic Jimmy Eat World fan lured in by the sweet mellow tones.

“Electable (give it up)” is one of the more up-beat tracks that starts off with a powerful beat. Catchy lyrics make one of those songs just meant to be turned up loud and sung in your car.

“Chase This Light,” the title track to the album, is more of a slow, mellow track but has great lyrics. It is the type of song anyone can learn the lyrics after hearing it twice.

“Here It Goes” is very classic Jimmy Eat World, as if this song is on all the groups albums.

But being a fan, I love it. It lives up to all their woes and great choruses with the same beat as all their other songs.

All in all, this CD is a winner in my book. I would immediately download this album onto my iPod and let it have its own play list. This album kind of resembles a low-key Fall Out Boy.

Comparing this to Jimmy’s previous two CDs, Bleed America and Futures, it fits right in.

Hopefully, it will gain the success of Bleed America rather than Futures. This album, Chase This Light, has a few more poppy, up-beat tracks like Bleed America, but still has more intense fast-guitar tracks like Futures.

The album has a lot more hit tracks just itching to get on the radio.

Noteworthy Tracks: “Here It Goes,” “Chase This Light” and “Electable.”
