Photographers plan Tuscany, France courses

By Patrick Cusack/reporter

Tuscany and France are great places to explore photography, and next summer students will be given that chance to experience one or both.

The Photography in Tuscany course takes place from June 18 to July 2 and The Photography in France course takes place July 6-21.

Each course requires a $700 deposit with the total cost due by April 30.

The Tuscany course will cost $1,975 not including airfare.

But the amount covers all accommodations, all breakfasts, five dinners, train and local transportation, entrance to museums and a private translator.

The total cost of the France course is also $1,975, not including airfare. The price includes all accommodations, all breakfasts, five dinners, a one-day pass to the Louvre, transportation by train and van and film development chemicals in southwest France.

The stays in the Tuscany course include one night in Rome, two nights in Assisi, one night in San Galgano, one night in Venice and eight nights in a 16th century villa in Tuscany.

The stays in the France course include three nights in Paris, two nights in Avranches, two nights on the Normandy coast and seven nights in southwest France.

All students wanting to participate must cover their own airfare separately.

Instructor Patricia Richards and the photography department have offered these courses for several years.

Richards encourages students who enjoy photography or wish to broaden their experiences to participate in this unique opportunity.

To register, contact Richards or ask for more information in business services on NE Campus.

Spots are limited. Only 14 spots students can sign up for the Tuscany course and 10 for France, and classes fill on a first-come, first-served basis.

Twenty-four of those who participated in last summer’s courses currently have their work displayed in College Hall (NCAB 1111) on NE Campus.

The exhibit features many black and white as well as color process works and will be open through Saturday, Dec. 8.
