Feb. 1 Sammons Center for the Arts in Dallas will present ORGAN-ized, the first of the Sammons’ jazz spring series. Bobby Sparks Quartet opens the season with Shelby Carrol on saxophone, Todd Parsnow on guitar and Brannen Temple on drums. They will perform a tribute to the legendary Hammond B-3 organ. Black-Red-Black led by Red Young on the Hammond B-3 organ performs in the second set, joined by Ephraim Owens on trumpet and Temple on drums. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the concert is 7:30-10 p.m. Regular ticket prices are $40, and member tickets are $35. The price includes valet parking, refreshments and a light meal. Feb. 3 Band of Heathens will perform at the McDavid Studio at Bass Hall in Fort Worth. The band will celebrate the release of this year’s album Top Hat Crown & the Clapmaster’s Son. The concert begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $23.10.

Feb. 11 Austin Lounge Lizards will play at McDavid Studio at Bass Hall in Fort Worth. The group is a folk-rock band with comical twists who has produced several albums since the 1980s. The concert starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $27.50.

Feb. 15 The Bass Hall in Fort Worth presents Country Royalty, a re-creation of Hank Williams and Patsy Cline performances. Jason Petty and Carolyn Martin take on the roles of the two country icons. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. Tickets range from $33 to $55.

Now-Feb. 19 Kaws is on exhibit at The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. Brooklyn-based artist Brian Donnelly, who makes his art under the byname of Kaws, is the first Focus exhibition for the 2011-2012 season. The pieces include murals, graffiti, sculptures and paintings. Admission is $4 for students with an ID and seniors (60+), $10 for general admission and free for children 12 and under and Modern members. Feb. 2-March 8 Peter Helms Feresten: My Mind Wanders to the South Side of Town will be held in SE Campus’ Art Corridor II. In a collection of photographs of Fort Worth’s south side, Feresten documented where he lived and the unfamiliar parts of Fort Worth with this unique accumulation of pictures. There will be an opening reception 5-7 p.m. Feb. 2 in Art Corridor II. This exhibit is free and open to the public. The gallery is open 8 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Friday and 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday.

Feb. 3-28 The Fort Worth Community Arts Center will host five exhibitions. Triple Exposure by Carol Womack shows women’s roles in today’s society. Persistence of Self is the Alzheimer’s Association’s exhibition of watercolor paintings from people with dementia. Sev-en showcases seven artists who sculpt in three dimensions. What is the Color of Love? shows artists’ interpretation of love as art and color. And Ancient Patterns — Threads of Time by Fay Jean Hooker shows her childhood of country living through bright quilts made of birch plywood. Each exhibition will host an artist’s reception 6-9 p.m. Feb. 10. The center is open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday. Admission to the center is free.

Now-Feb. 5 Pantagleize Theatre in Fort Worth presents When We Dead Awaken. Based on the relationship between the sculptor Rodin and his mistress, it is considered the forerunner of European symbolist drama. Jason Sikes, student on TR and SE campuses, is the assistant stage manager. This play is not suitable for children under 15 because of mature themes and graphic nature. Showtimes are 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday. Interpreting for the deaf will be provided during the Feb. 4 performance. Now-Feb. 12 Creative Arts Theatre & School has opened its new youth musical, Madeline & The Gypsies. TCC student Michael Magnus is featured as The Strongman in the show, which follows Madeline on her grand adventure as she runs away with the circus. Now-Feb. 25 Secrets of a Soccer Mom will open at Circle Theatre in Fort Worth. Feb. 3-19 Take Me Out opens with Uptown Players in Dallas. NE theater alumnus Lloyd Harvey stars in the show that explores themes of homophobia, discrimination, class and masculinity in sports. Feb. 3-March 17 The Artisan Center Theater in Hurst presents Big River, a musical based on The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain. In this story, Finn helps his friend Jim, a slave, escape to freedom at the mouth of the Ohio River. Performances are 7:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday and 7:30 p.m. Thursday-Saturday with a 3 p.m. matinee Saturday. Ticket prices are $9 for children Friday and Saturday and $7 Monday-Thursday.
