A discussion panel exploring the issues of gender and sexuality will be held 11 a.m.-1 p.m. March 19 on NE Campus followed by a showing of the documentary Trans 1-3 p.m.

The event will be held in the Larry Darlage Center Corner (NSTU 1615A).

“A variety of in-transition individuals” are expected to attend, said Carolyn Benson, a NE sociology and psychology instructor, including “a drag queen, a school representative and a student researcher.”

There will be a Q&A session along with printed information.

The event is sponsored by the NE psychology and sociology department as well as the club Spectrum: LGBT and Allies.

Benson said she hopes students and staff will become more aware and tolerant after leaving the event.

“Students should get the word out,” she said. “This is an important subject, and all campuses are welcome.”

Refreshments will be provided, and staff and students planning to attend do not have to sign up in advance for seating.
