NW art gives storage container new design

The NW Arts Coalition has spent the past couple of weeks decorating an outdoor storage container.

Members of the club painted a patchwork of color onto the container over several days.

Students involved in the project are part of NW art studio courses. They collaborated with art faculty for the idea.

Even with some rainy days delaying the project, the group was not deterred from its task.

The student leaders for the project, Lauren Tomlinson and Sandi Walters, thought the end-of-year project turned out well despite the setbacks.

“Even with the rainy days thrown in, we were able to create something artistic,” Tomlinson said.

The storage container sits behind the Fine Arts Building, facing the lake.

“We wanted to take something that has to sit behind the building anyway and turn it into something pleasing to look at,” Tomlinson said. “You have to see it anyways, so why not turn it into art?”

The club works on several projects throughout the semester, allowing a way for students to come together with the common goal of creating art.
