Black women to be honored at read-in

By Raegan Scharfetter

As Black History Month comes to a close and Women’s History Month begins, SE will present Hidden Figures: Women Who Pioneered Our Future 11:30 a.m.-12:50 p.m. Feb. 28 in the C.A. Roberson Theatre.

The read-in will celebrate women across all disciplines who made an impact on society.

The event’s goal is to inspire students, especially women, to showcase their talents and skills, SE academic affairs vice president Zena Jackson said.

“I hope that students, faculty and all attendees hear poems, songs and excerpts about African-Americans and women whom they did not know played a role in our country’s history,” she said. “I hope they are entertained and appreciate the diversity of programs we bring to the SE Campus for their benefit.”

The event is presented by the Judith J. Carrier Library, academic affairs and student activities. Light refreshments will be served. For more information, contact the library at 817-515-3389 or james.foreman@tccd.edu.
