Movie Review – Jeepers Creepers 3 offers lackluster end to series

By Michael Foster-Sanders/campus editor

So much promise, so much failure.

The last Jeepers Creepers movie came out in 2003 and ended on a note that the Creeper was going to come back for this epic battle for one last time. It was a lie.

Jeepers Creepers 3, or really Jeepers creepers 1.5, is a prequel. For what? I don’t know. The viewer doesn’t get an origin story, and the viewer doesn’t get an answer for Creeper’s actions, which this movie paints in the beginning what it’s going to be. Instead, we get a half-assed, low-budget affair with no soul unlike the previous two movies.

Jonathan Breck still has what it takes to be the Creeper, and that is what carries the movie and stops it from being a total snoozefest.

Veteran actors Meg Foster and Stan Shaw (who I haven’t seen in a movie since his performance as Stuttering Jack Jenkins in Harlem Nights) are criminally underused when their roles had so much promise.

I don’t know what Victor Salva was thinking when he wrote this script knowing he had a snowball’s chance in hell for the movie to be funded and made due to his sexual misconduct conviction being discovered for the new generation of film viewers.

To not give the fans of the series a proper end to the Creeper saga is bogus, but to set up a sequel, which I bet anyone $100 that it’s never going to come out is asinine.

Save your money and catch this movie on demand or on DVD.
