 DANCE

Nov. 30-Dec. 1 South Campus’ dance department presents the Dance Salad Concert. The end-of-the-semester concert will feature dancers from the campus’ dance companies, Velocity I and Velocity II, and various dance technique courses. The performance starts at 7:30 p.m. with doors opening at 7 p.m. in the Carillon Theatre of the Joe B. Rushing Center for the Performing Arts. Dec. 6 Fall into Dance, a concert featuring the NW Dance Company and dance students, will be 1-3 p.m. in WSTU 1303 on NW Campus. Dec. 7-8 Kaleidoscope, the NE Campus fall dance concert, will be 7:30-8:30 p.m. both nights with a 2:30 p.m. concert Dec. 8 in the NFAB Theatre. Several styles of ballroom including the fox trot, swing, tango, jive and cha-cha will be performed as well as contemporary ballet, tap, hip-hop and modern dance. Now-Nov. 30 Point of View: An Exhibition of Photography is on display in College Hall (NCAB 1111) on NE Campus. Photographers include a mixture of students and faculty who participated in the study abroad programs during the spring and summer under the direction of associate professor Patricia Richards. The exhibit is open during normal school hours. Admission is free.

Now-Dec. 8 The NW art exhibit Loose Knit, a display of ceramics, paintings and drawings, is in the Lakeview Gallery (WFAB 1135A). Now-Dec. 30 The Kimball at 40: An Evolving Masterpiece celebrates the Kimball Art Museum in Fort Worth and the institution’s 40th anniversary. The exhibition goes through the history of the museum and some of the great pieces it has presented. Now-Jan. 6 Companion (Passing Through) is on display at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. As an encore to last year’s exhibit Focus: Kaws, the Modern brings the Brooklyn-based artist’s work back. His 16-foot sculpture sits at the museum’s entrance. The human/animal/cartoon hybrid has a Mickey Mouse body in a Auguste Rodin’s The Thinker pose. Now-Jan. 6 The Amon Carter Museum in Fort Worth presents To See as Artists See: American Art from the Phillips Collection. Duncan Phillips opened the Phillips Collection in Washington, D.C., in 1921 to the public as America’s first modern art museum. In this first large-scale traveling exhibit, works ranging from 1851-1960 are on display. The Amon is only one of two stops in the U.S. The museum is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday-Wednesday and Friday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Thursday and noon-5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free. Now-Dec. 3 The black comedy The Lieutenant of Inishmore is the story of “Mad” Padraic’s desire to avenge the death of his cat Wee Thomas at any cost. The play will run nightly at 7 p.m. with a 2 p.m. matinee Dec. 3 in the NFAB Theatre. The show is free for TCC students, faculty and staff, $3 for non-TCC students and senior citizens and $6 for the general public. To purchase tickets, call the box office at 817-515-6687. Now-Dec. 9 Stage West Theatre of Fort Worth presents She Loves Me. The romantic musical is a classic story with plotlines of The Shop Around the Corner and You’ve Got Mail. Set in 1940s Budapest, two shop employees are consistently at odds with each other while at work, but both are unaware of the love they have for each other as secret pen pals. Now-Dec. 16 Annie, the classic story of an orphan on a mission to find the parents who abandoned her, is onstage at Theatre Arlington. Now-Dec. 22 The Artisan Center Theater in Hurst presents the musical The Forgotten Carols. A straight-laced nurse is assigned to care for an elderly man who has psychological problems. Nov. 29-Dec. 1 The SE drama department presents It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play, the last production for the fall semester. The audience will take a peek behind the scenes of a 1940s radio broadcast as the radio cast performs the classic Christmas story. Dec. 5-9 Theatre Northwest presents Dark of the Moon, the last show for the fall semester. The play follows a witch boy named John who falls in love with a beautiful mortal girl named Barbara. Now-January 2013 Drawing Power: The Newton Collection of Original Editorial Cartoons is on display at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History. The exhibit features 100 editorial cartoons that appeared in magazines and newspapers, some dating back to the 1930s. Being one of America’s largest collections, it includes works from Pulitzer Prize-winning U.S. and international cartoonists. The museum is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Saturday and noon-5 p.m. Sunday. Now-March 24 Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition is a featured exhibit at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History.
