Students ran, jumped and crawled to the finish line in the fitness obstacle course Feb. 19 on SE Campus.
More than 40 students participated in the course. Men and women took turns running the course two at a time.
The early part of the course contained a cone run, hurdles, a balance beam and a tire drag. Students then had to do 10 repetitions of both jump rope and push-ups. At the end of the course was the ladder crawl, a tire jump and then the finish line.
Many students came for the extra credit, but SE student Maribel Cordero had other plans.
“I’m here to lose some weight,” she said. “I’m also nervous because I don’t want to look bad.”
Of the men, Cedrick Saidi had the fastest time of 2:08. Of the women, Karen Lopez finished with a time of 2:56.
Students complained about the most difficult parts of the course. Some students said a fast start caused early fatigue in the race, resulting in a longer run.
“The tire drag was the hardest for me,” said SE student Helder Lobato. “By the time you do the whole circle, you’re tired.”
Some students complained about the low temperatures and high winds making the course harder to run.
“I’m not really dressed for the cold, so the weather is a factor,” said SE student Morayo Orekoya.
