The South Campus Carillon Gallery presents the Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition 2010 April 15-29.
All student artists currently enrolled or previously enrolled during the Fall 2009 semester on South Campus are eligible for entry.
The deadline for all entries is April 7.
“We are expecting a pretty big turnout this year,” said Kara English, South Campus art associate professor. “Last year, we had at least 200 entries, so I hope this year’s turnout will be even better.”
Josh Goode, South Campus instructor of art and gallery director, is coordinator for the second year.
“The student show is going to be exciting this year,” he said. “We will give out five cash prizes with Best of Show receiving $500. There will also be a number of honorable mention awards that will be decided by the juror.”
This year’s jurors are Patrick Short, artist and founder of Guerilla Arts, and John Pomara, artist and professor of art at the University of Texas at Dallas.
Students from all fine arts classes can submit ceramics, paintings, printmakings, drawings, designs, sculptures, digital art and more.
“I am always impressed by the quality of artwork that our students create,” Goode said. “The art exhibition is a great highlight for our department, and it’s a wonderful opportunity to showcase the strength of our students to the entire community.”
The United Student Art League will provide $1,000 in awards.
All winners will be determined by the jurors and will be announced April 29 during a reception 6-8 p.m. in the gallery.
Normal operating hours for the gallery, located in the Joe B. Rushing Center for the Performing Arts, are 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday-Thursday.
