The SE Reading and Writing Resource Center will sponsor a grammar workshop on spelling tips 9-9:30 a.m. Feb. 27 in ESEE 2227A. This is the final grammar workshop out of four. Students do not need to sign up in advance.

Marine Creek Book Club will meet 11:30 a.m.-noon in the Walsh Library on NW Campus. English instructor Melissa Perry and the NW librarians will discuss Ernest Cline’s science fiction novel Ready Player One. SE Sigma Kappa Delta will host the Common Reader Week discussion forum series in the SE library. Ex Libris: Confessions of a Common Reader will feature discussions led by various faculty members. Students are invited to attend and take part in an essay contest. The winner of the essay contest will receive a textbook scholarship. NE Campus health services will host Shape-UP 2:30-3:30 p.m. every Monday and Friday through March 25 in Center Corner (NSTU 1615A).

NE Campus will offer free, confidential HIV and/or syphilis testing in NSTU 1704. Appointments are encouraged, but walk-ins are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Call 817-515-6056 to make an appointment.

To prepare for spring break, TR nurses will also be on TRTR Main Street throughout the day to give students information about staying healthy over the break. Tips include water and sun safety.

SE advising and counseling will host Cultural Competency 10-11:20 a.m. in the North Ballroom. Sociology assistant professor Sharon Wettengel and social work students will teach cultural diversity to develop and maintain positive relationships in life. Students can develop awareness of personal values, biases, assumptions as well as an understanding of their own heritage as it relates to others and working with people from different backgrounds. Guest speaker and North Texas Poison Center expert Mike Yudizky will talk noon-1 p.m. in Action B (TRTR 4102) to TR students, faculty and staff about the presence of poison in the home. Yudizky will focus on children at risk of being poisoned, especially during the spring cleaning period.

A Health and Disability Fair will be held 10 a.m.-1 p.m. in WSTU 1303 on NW Campus. Health screenings for blood pressure, body mass index and glucose levels will be available to students as well as information about various support groups.
