The sounds of bouncing basketballs and squeaking shoes filled the SE Campus gym as the 3-on-3 intramural basketball quarterfinals were played March 23.

The most action-filled game saw No. 6 seed Bowieside squaring off against No. 7 seed Goon Squad 2. Although a player short, Goon Squad 2 still played like it was 3-on-3. After a battle from beyond the three-point arc, Goon Squad 2 fell just short, losing 20-14.

No. 11 seed No Hops proved no contest as No. 2 seed La Familia quickly beat them 20-5 and advanced to the semifinals.

Still, Stefan Maxwell of La Familia said he wasn’t satisfied with his performance.

“I started off a little sluggish because I didn’t get time to warm up, but in the end, we still got the win,” he said.

The No. 3 seed Money Team came out slow but got it together to beat No. 10 Salt ’n’ Peppa 20-9 to secure a spot in next week’s semifinals.

Money Team player Denzel Winston said the win will give his team a boost going into next week.

“I feel real good about it as long as my team has got my back,” he said.

No. 5 Team Buckets battled the No. 8 Warriors in a close game that lasted the entire 25 minutes. Team Buckets came out on top winning 16-7, knocking out the Warriors.

The semifinals and finals begin at 9 a.m. March 30 in the SE Campus gym.
