SE golfers will try for closest-to-pin

By Eric Poe/sports editor

Golf, the national pastime for many, is coming to SE Campus.

SE will hold a closest-to-the-pin competition at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 21.

“It’ll be on our golf range,” SE intramural director Shahzad Nazir said. “It’s about 120 yards to the hole.”

Prospective players will sign up and compete in that order.

The format for the event is quite simple, Nazir said.

“We will hit in order of the sign-up,” he said. “And it’s one and done. Each player gets one shot to get closest to the hole.”

Each competitor will also get a sleeve of golf balls they can keep, Nazir said.

“They are free to bring their own clubs,” he said. “But we also have clubs available.”

The stakes are pretty high for the contest as second and third place will receive a TCC gym bag and the winner gets a free driver.

“It’s not a $300 driver,” said Nazir with a laugh. “But it’s a driver.”
