Students can learn how to nourish themselves as writers at the seventh annual Do the Write Thing writing and publishing workshop on NE Campus Oct. 11-12.
The two-day seminar will feature best-selling author Ann Weisgarber, who will give the keynote address.
Other authors will give presentations covering topics, such as “Basics of Writing,” “Feeding Your Writer’s Appetite” and “Taking Risks as a Writer.”
The conference will provide “all of the steps from start to finish” for getting a book published, said TCC instructor and program founder Shewanda Riley.
“The workshop will help attendees see it is not as hard as they think it may be to become an author,” she said. “A student can have a best-selling book available for purchase on Amazon by the time they graduate TCC.”
In addition to the keynote address, Weisgarber will conduct a manuscript-critique session.
“Weisgarber has visited TCC before and is very excited to return,” Riley said.
The event is scheduled in Center Corner (NSTU 1615A) 1-5 p.m. Oct. 11 and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Oct. 12. The fee is $75 for the public and $25 for students.
