Lack of sleep can result in irritability, lack of concentration and increased stress. This means less concentration in school and, in turn, lower grades.
With simple relaxation techniques and an unwinding of the nervous system, one South Campus psychology assistant professor believes students can have the full feeling of a psychological relaxation. This is a good replenisher of not-so-well sleep.
Staussa Ervin will address and help eliminate stress in Unbelievable Relaxation in 30 Minutes! 11:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m. Feb. 4 in the SSTU Texas Room on South Campus.
“Students can get the equivalent of five hours of sleep in 30 minutes based on a yoga relaxation technique,” Ervin said. “If students participate, they will need to lie down on the floor on a yoga mat.”
This seminar is presented by the Women in New Roles program and its director, Triesha Light.
“This seminar is the best stress management gift a person can give themselves in the month of February,” she said. “Learning to relax is an important ingredient in finding happiness in life.”
