MSNBC anchor visits NE

By Danilynn Welniak/ne news editor

MSNBC anchorwoman Tamron Hall will give advice to NE Campus students March 27 as part of Women’s History Month.

Hall will present The Road to Success in Broadcast Journalism, in which she will speak about her successful career and tell how others can achieve success.

Paula Vastine, NE student services coordinator, and James Varnado, NE counselor, are responsible for setting up her visit.

“Hall is a young, vivacious black woman who has come so far in the world of broadcasting,” Vastine said. “We want students to learn how she got to where she is so that others can do it too.”

Hall received her bachelor’s in broadcast journalism from Temple University and began her broadcasting career in Bryan, Texas, at KBTX as a general assignment reporter. She spent four years as a reporter at KTVT in Dallas-Fort Worth. Prior to joining MSNBC in July 2007, she spent 10 years in Chicago at WFLD, where she held a number of different positions.

Vastine explained the presentation’s significance to TCC students.

“We really want the students to walk away knowing how she has succeeded when others haven’t,” she said.

Hall’s presentation aims its message at students and others who want to learn how to find success in this industry, Vastine said.

Hall will present her seminar at 9 a.m. in the NSTU Center Corner. A light brunch will be provided.
