Now-Oct. 31 The NE library presents Havana, Cuba: First Glance, 2011. In 2011, Rick Barton, Martha Gordon and Patricia Richards applied for and received U.S. State Department visas to travel to Cuba. Oct. 14-17 The NE theater opens its season with God of Carnage. Written by Yasmina Reza, the show looks into two sets of parents who discuss an incident in a “civilized” manner. Showtimes begin at 7:30 p.m. with a 2:30 p.m. Saturday matinee. Reservations are not required, but no one will be seated late. Oct. 14-18 Anatomy of Gray, described by its author as “a children’s story for adults,” opens Theatre Northwest’s season. Set in late-1800s Indiana, the play mixes humor with emotions as it deals with death, love, healing and loss. Content is appropriate for all ages. Oct. 20-24 The SE C.A. Roberson Theatre will hold a production of Willliam Shakespeare’s Hamlet. Drama instructor Megan Haratine directs the classic tragedy, which tells the story of the troubled Danish Prince Hamlet and his struggle for revenge against his Uncle Claudius, who murdered his father, married his mother and stole the throne for himself. Tickets are free to TCC students, faculty and staff, $3 for other students and senior citizens and $6 for general admission. Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. and a matinee at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 22. Oct. 28 The NW Dance Club will host a dance-a-thon 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. in WHPE 1103. Dance-a-thon donations will help the Assessment Center of Tarrant County buy gifts for children housed at the center. Students, faculty and staff can come to the dance floor at any time for as long they wish. Oct. 30 NW’s Mosaic Dance Project will perform 2:30-4 p.m. and 7:30-9 p.m. in Theatre Northwest. The performance will feature works choreographed by NW dance faculty and solo performances by members of the dance group. The event includes an outreach program to local high schools with a full day of workshops, behind-the-scenes dress rehearsal and a Q&A session.
