Feb. 8 NW will host an academic learning center workshop 10-11 a.m. in WACB 1101. Students will be presented strategies to improve the process of writing outlines.

SE Campus will offer free tax preparation assistance noon-8 p.m. Feb. 8-9 and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Feb. 11 in EMBC 1106 for those who qualify for Volunteer Income Tax Assistance. IRS-certified volunteers can help people with electronic filing. To have tax returns prepared, individuals need to bring a picture ID, Social Security card for themselves, their dependents or spouse or a Social Security number verification letter or individual taxpayer identification number assignment letter for them, also relevant documents for an ITIN, and financial records for the filing. Both spouses must be present to sign the required forms if they are filing taxes electronically on a married-filing-joint tax return. Feb. 8 Carter BloodCare will be on NE Campus 9 a.m.-4 p.m. in a coach outside the Student Center by the chessboard. Healthy donors must weigh at least 110 pounds, be over 16 and have a valid photo ID. Appointments are encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome. Feb. 8 NE student activities will host a spring Club Rush noon-2 p.m. in the NSTU south hallway to discuss changes in policy as well as upcoming events. Club Rush is an opportunity to network with student leaders and promote an organization’s goals. The event is free, but an RSVP is required by sending an email to chelsea.patton@tccd.edu.

Feb. 8-9 The TR Discovery Center (TRTR 3101) will hold Transfer 101 sessions to inform and assist students in the transfer process to a four-year university. Two presentations will be held on both days at 10:30 and 11 a.m.

Feb. 10 NE Math Club Infinity is hosting Synthetic Aperture Radar, a STEM seminar, 12:20-2 p.m. in NTAB 2223. Synthetic aperture radar is a new tool scientists and engineers are using to measure and observe the world in great detail. The seminar is free, and pizza will be provided.
