ART
Now-April 14 NE art and biology departments present Bioforms, a sculpture exhibit developed by NE Ceramics II classes and the NE biology department. The exhibit in the J. Ardis Bell Library on NE Campus features realistic clay models of microscopic tissues.
Now-April 17 TR Campus brings Enduring Desire, a photography exhibit by Candice Chase, to the East Fork Gallery. The images, high-resolution prints mounted on 24-by-36-inch gator boards, reflect both the community and Chase’s own spiritual journey. Some prints come from her photographing neighborhood youth in an Oak Cliff gym in Dallas. The gallery is open during the campus’ normal operating hours.
Now-April 22 SE Campus presents Ryder Richards: Pow[d]er, a collection of expansive, monumental art installations that explore themes of power and violence through drawings, sculptures and paintings. The exhibit is on view in Art Corridor II during normal college operating hours and is free to the public. Now-May 2 The NE Campus Exposure Photo Club presents its annual student photography exhibition in College Hall (NCAB 1111). Visitors can see the exhibit 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday-Saturday. Admission is free. An artists’ reception is scheduled 6-8:30 p.m. April 20 in College Hall.
April 18-30 The Visual Art Student Exhibition is up in the Lakeview Gallery on NW Campus. The exhibit includes student works from six categories: painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpture, design and digital art. The categories will be judged by Janet Chaffee, art adjunct assistant professor at the University of Texas at Arlington, and awards given out 11 a.m.-2 p.m. April 30.
April 21 The NE Association of Potters and Sculptors will hold a Mad Potter’s Tea 2-4 p.m. outside near the chessboard. The annual tea party features teapots and vessels made by students.
THEATER
April 14-16 The South Campus drama department will perform the Ian Woolridge stage adaptation of George Orwell’s novel Animal Farm. The story deals with the animals of Manor Farm who, after rebelling against their human owner and taking over the farm, find themselves at odds with each other. Performances begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Carillon Theatre in the Joe B. Rushing Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets are $6 for general admission, $3 for non-TCC students and seniors and free for TCC students, faculty and staff. Reservations are not required, but no one will be admitted late.
April 27-May 1 Theatre Northwest presents Vanities, a play about how close friends in high school too often grow apart afterward. Kathy, Joanne and Mary have all gone separate ways, are involved with the same guy and have no interest in cheerleading, their former bond. Shows will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday-Friday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $6 for general admission, $3 for non-TCC students and free for faculty, staff and TCC students.
April 28-30 SE Campus’ drama department is hosting a production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at 8 p.m. Thursday, 2 and 8 p.m. Friday and 8 p.m. Saturday in the C.A. Roberson Theatre. The musical is free to TCC students, faculty and staff, $6 for general public and $3 for senior citizens and non-TCC students. MUSIC
April 13 The NE music department will sponsor a concert featuring the NE Jazz Lab Band and special guest saxophonist Jim Snidero. The New York-based musician will visit the campus during his tour to many universities and colleges in the country. The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the NFAB theater. Admission is free.
April 18 SE Campus will host a faculty recital 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. in the C.A. Roberson Theatre. Faculty in the music department will perform jazz, classical and other forms of music in the recital. DANCE
April 15-16 The NW Campus dance program will present Momentum: A Dancer’s Axis concert 7:30-9:30 p.m. at Scott Theatre in Fort Worth. The NW Dance Company and Mosaic Dance Project will perform. Tickets are $7.
