South Campus will host a concert Nov. 7 of one of the earliest known musical instruments — the flute.

Flutist Tara Richter will perform, accompanied by pianist Harold Martina, at 7 p.m. in the Recital Hall. Performance pieces will include Sonata for Flute by Jindrich Feld, Pastorale by Johannes Donjon, Sonata in F major by G.P. Telemann and Mozart’s Concerto in G major.

Former Texas Flute Society President Richter is a flute instructor and freelance musician. She received a bachelor’s degree from Eastern Illinois University and a master’s from Stephen F. Austin University.

Martina, a piano professor at Texas Christian University, has performed in Europe, the United States, Latin America, Israel and Japan.

He has accompanied performers such as violinist Eugene Fodor, cellist Christine Walevska, flutist Gary Schocker and soprano Maria Stader.

In 2001, the University of Antioquia, Colombia, named its music hall the Harold Martina Auditorium.

“He is very accomplished,” Richter said.
