SE Campus will have a Veterans Day program at 11 a.m. in the Commons. Former U.S. Army Sgt. John Johnson, a paratrooper, will speak at the event. The program will open with posting of the colors by Arlington’s Barnett Junior High. Arlington High School students will retire the colors. NE Campus student activities, financial aid, mental health and counseling will sponsor a luncheon honoring Veterans Day at 11 a.m. in the Center Corner (NSTU 1615A). South Campus celebrates Veterans Day with the theme “Remember, Honor and Thank Our Military Veterans” 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. in the SSTU cafeteria. The program will begin with the prelude and posting of colors followed by the Pledge of Allegiance, National Anthem and the reading of the Veterans Day proclamation. Patriotic compositions will be presented by a quartet. A moment of silence will be followed by a rendition of taps.
NW Campus will host a Veterans Day luncheon to honor and thank student veterans. The event will take place at noon in the Michael Saenz Conference Center (WACB 1123). Since only 30 spots are available, student veterans must RSVP to Dr. Laura Wood, NW history and government professor and event organizer, at laura.wood@tccd.edu.
NW Campus students will host a dedication ceremony to all past and present student veterans. The event will start at 6:30 p.m. in front of the WTLO building. Students who are veterans will speak, and at sundown, the Cornerstone honor students will have a dedication ceremony and read all the names on the campus Remembrance Wall.
NE Campus music faculty will perform a Veterans Day concert at 7:30 p.m. in College Hall (NCAB 1111). The concert will include two chamber pieces composed by Assistant Professor Edwardo Perez. Postlude: E Pluribus Unum, a musical composition on the aftermath of war, will begin the concert. Perez’s Requiem for the Unknown Soldier, featuring music instructor Stan Paschal, will end the concert. Admission is free, and the public is invited.
