Musicians associated with the Fort Worth Symphony will present a chamber music performance on NE Campus Tuesday, Jan. 31, at 2 p.m.
Chamber music was originally performed in the chambers (small areas) of wealthy homes during the 17th century. Now, the performances usually are held in public concert halls.
The chamber pieces were written for a string quartet—two violins, one viola and one cello.
The seven Fort Worth Symphony musicians will perform two 20-minute works by Franz Joseph Haydn, a late 16th early classical composer who established the string quartet, and Franz Schubert, a 17th century romantic composer.
No vocal performances are part of this performance. A cellist will join the string quartet for the acoustic performance, meaning no amplification.
The concert in the NFAB theater is open to all TCC students, faculty as staff as well as the public.
Admission is free.
