Robert Plant and Alison Krauss Raising Sand (4.5 stars)
Bluegrass Alison Krauss and the front man of a little band called Led Zeppelin, Robert Plant, team up to createRaising Sand.
“Sister Rosetta Goes Before Us” and “Fortune Teller” display their individual talents, but the duets are where the musical gems are hidden.
Their voices are magnetic together, showcased beautifully in “Gone, Gone, Gone (Done Moved On).”
The duo might seem like an odd pairing at first glance, but Plant’s manic screech and Krauss’ sultry voice feed off each other’s strengths and illustrate what a good duet album should sound like.
Raising Sand, filled with silky sounds and harmonic glory, is one of the best crafted CDs of the 2007.
