The NE music department is recruiting high school and current students through a percussion master class held by world-renowned percussionist and composer Ney Rosauro.

“Many times, they [students] equate the long hard hours of playing in band to being a conflict with their academic goals,” said NE music instructor Warren Dewey. “Playing their instrument in an ensemble or singing in the choir can help reduce the stress of their hectic college schedules.”

During the master class, Rosauro will hear students perform solo pieces and provide critiques.

“In many cases, he will actually provide performance demonstrations of his compositions,” Dewey said.

Rosauro has published more than 50 pieces for percussion as well as several method books. His compositions have been recorded by internationally acclaimed artists such as Evelyn Glennie, a deaf Scottish virtuoso percussionist, and the London Symphony Orchestra.

For questions or to register to perform a solo for Rosauro, call Dewey at 817-223-7653.
