TCC’s Student International Travel Study Program will accept applications through May 31 for the fall 2007 trip to Salzburg, Austria. The Salzburg Seminar allows TCC students to become more aware of international affairs as well as earn credit hours.

The seminar is scheduled for January 2008. Students applying will enroll for the fall 2007 courses of SPCH 1318, interpersonal communication and HIST 2322, World Civilizations II. These courses result in six credit hours that will transfer to other colleges and universities.

Carol Hunsberger, NW speech instructor, and Laura Wood, NW history/government professor, will conduct the courses. The majority of the course work will be completed online, but periodic meetings will be held on NW Campus throughout the fall semester.

Requirements for admission into the January 2008 study program include a student application, required essay, one letter of recommendation, current official TCC transcript and signed Salzburg Seminar waiver form. Students also must have completed at least 18 credit hours with a minimum GPA of 3.0.

Applications may be submitted in person or by mail to Dr. Tahita Fulkerson at the May Owen Center no later than 5 p.m. on May 31.

A panel will review applications and select finalists. The selected students will then be interviewed by the faculty team teaching the course.

Ten students will be chosen from among the finalists interviewed.

TCC will pay for tuition, textbooks, registration for the Salzburg Seminar International Study Program, airfare and hotel accommodations.

The six-credit-hour block will cost $500. A non-refundable $100 deposit must be paid in full with the written acceptance of the student into the program.

The student will have to pay the $400 balance on or before August 1. All students must also have a valid passport to travel to Austria and current health insurance.
