For the first time in TCC history, NE Campus photography faculty and staff present their personal artwork in an exhibit called Light/Time = Photography.
The show features work from all 11 members of the photography faculty and staff on NE, the only campus to teach photography classes.
The artwork comprises several techniques ranging from film-based black-and-white images to fully digital color images.
“Students can come away realizing that variants in the medium of photography can easily co-exist,” said Patricia Richards, photography associate professor.
Each artist selected pieces that were either representative of their work as a whole or part of a larger body of work.
Diane Guy, adjunct professor of photography, contributed four full-color pieces from a larger body of work that depicts larger-than-life signage.
She describes her photos as “roadside Americana” and says she is showing the “diversity and cultural aspects of advertising that are now disappearing from our landscape.”
In contrast, teacher’s aide Paul Leicht said he selected images that serve as a framework for the viewer to fill in a narrative based on their own perceptions.
Leicht uses a film-based scanning process that gives each image an unpredictable quality and texture.
Other artwork includes environmental portraiture, narrated storytelling, 3-D constructions and landscape photography.
“Students should view this show to see what the department has to offer as well as to see what they could bring to the department,” Richards said.
The photographs can be seen every day during normal operating hours through Feb. 26 in College Hall (NCAB 112) on NE Campus.
