Feb. 10 Career services will host a Service Learning Fair 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Commons on SE Campus. Students can sign up with agencies for student learning hours or receive information on volunteering in the community. 

Feb. 10 The student success seminar Digging Out of Debt will be held 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the Darlage Center Corner (NSTU 1615) on NE Campus. Business assistant professor Randy Saleh will inform students how to properly use financial aid and get out of debt. A light lunch will be served.

Feb. 10 NW’s Bridge Program and success coaches will host Surviving Your First Semester 2-3 p.m. in the Innovation Forum (WTLO 3101A). Students will hear tricks and tips about getting the most out of their first semester.

Feb. 10 Julie Smalley from the National Marrow Donor Program will be on NE Campus in the NTAB lobby 9 a.m.-2 p.m. to recruit bone marrow donors. Bone marrow transplants are life-saving treatments for those with leukemia, lymphoma and other diseases. Certain health requirements must be met to donate.

Feb. 10 NW student activities will sponsor Club Corral 11 a.m.-3 p.m. in WSTU 1303-1305. Students can look at all the clubs and organizations available on campus while games, food, music and a selfie station will be available.

Feb. 10 Carter BloodCare will hold a blood drive 9 a.m.-4 p.m. outside the Student Center on NE Campus. Healthy donors must be at least 110 pounds, 16 years of age and have a valid ID. Fifty-six days must have passed before the previous donation, and it is recommended that one is hydrated and has eaten prior to donating.

Feb. 10 The TR counseling center will sponsor Time Management: Tick, Tock! 11 a.m.-noon in the TR Discovery Center (TRTR 3102). This workshop will equip students with the tools needed to take back their lives and balance their time.

Feb. 10-13 The Bridge Program and Academic Learning Center on NW Campus will hold Using MLA Style starting at 2 p.m. in the Writing Lab (WTLO 3411A). This workshop will focus on the MLA guidelines and essay formats. Contact program coordinator Talisha Simpson at 817-515-7657 for more information.

Feb. 11 Love That Smile With All Your Heart will be presented 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the Darlage Center Corner (NSTU 1615) on NE Campus. The program will teach students how dental health can also affect heart health and will include a complimentary heart-healthy lunch. Reservations are required. Students can register by calling NE health services at 817-515-6056. Faculty must register online through the TCC Learn Center, search Smile to request one professional development hour.

Feb. 11 Better Ways to Stress, presented by TR counseling and advising, will be held 11 a.m.-noon in the Idea Store (TRTR 3102). Students can learn to use stress to be more productive, healthier and happier. Contact the TR counseling center at 817-515-1055 for details.

Feb. 12 Students can travel with TR Campus to the University of Texas at Dallas for Trinity River on the Go-UT Dallas Preview Friday. Students will learn more about UT-Dallas as counselors provide detailed information about admissions, financial aid, scholarships and campus life. UT Dallas will provide application fee waivers for the upcoming school year to students who attend. Transportation is provided, but space is limited, so RSVP soon. Feb. 12 Valentine’s Shopping Spree will be 10 a.m.-4 p.m. in the Commons on SE Campus. Students can purchase Valentine’s Day gifts. SE organizations and clubs will participate, and all profits will benefit their causes. For more information, call SE student activities at 817-515-3595.

Feb. 12 SE intramural sports will start off the semester with a dodgeball tournament at 1 p.m. in the gym. Students need their IDs to sign up. For more information, contact SE kinesiology instructor Shahzad Nazir at shahzad.nazir@tccd.edu.

Feb. 12, 19 The NE Campus math department will offer a series of free workshops to help students prepare for the Jim Bolen Mathematics Competition. The workshops will be held 1-3 p.m. in NTAB 2223. Feb. 15 NE students are invited to an open house at the new student activities offices 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in NSTU 1502, near the dining area and game room. Refreshments will be served.

Feb. 15 NW will hold a Presidents Day luncheon noon-1 p.m. in the Michael Saenz Conference Room (WACB 1123). NW administration will meet and have lunch with student club presidents, vice presidents and sponsors. For more information, contact student activities at 817-515-7795.

Feb. 15 NE Campus presents Get Back on Track to Finish the Race! 12:30-2 p.m. in the Community Room (NBSS 1103). The workshop helps students to identify different learning styles and strategies, provides information on boosting GPA and explains pitfalls to avoid when repeating courses. Feb. 15-18 The NW Bridge Program will work with the Academic Learning Center to present Forming a Thesis and Integrating Sources starting at 5:15 p.m. on the 15th and 16th and at noon on the 17th and 18th in the Writing Lab (WTLO 3411A). This workshop will touch on the process of developing a thesis from the writing prompt to the finished paper. Feb. 15-19 A Presidents Day exhibit will take place all day in the SE Campus library. The opening reception will be 10-11 a.m. outside the library. Feb. 16 TR will host Managing Conflict, a student-led discussion group, 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Riverfront Cafe. The session is part of a series offered on different topics at the same time and place each week. Feb. 17-20 The Bridge Program and Academic Learning Center on NW will hold Improving Literary Analysis starting at 11 a.m. in the Writing Lab (WTLO 3411A). This workshop will map different strategies to help students differentiate between summary and analysis and provide ways to improve their literary analysis.
