South’s counseling office will host Taste & Talk, an open forum where students can ask questions and voice concerns Sept. 28.
Academic advisor Kamille Coleman says most students are unaware how much the counseling center has to offer them, and this event will inform them.
“We want to make sure that they understand that we are steps along the whole road while they’re here,” she said. “Whether they go to get an associate and transfer out, or just getting an associate or getting a certain amount of credits, we are an integral part of that whole process.”
Five advisors and one success coach will answer as many questions as possible.
“We’ll have a panel set up, and we’ll have our table set up with a PowerPoint behind us,” she said.
Students will sit around tables and ask their questions from an available microphone, Coleman said.
The South counseling office will also use this time to get feedback from students.
“What are ways we could maybe change some things that are not working, that are not reaching the students, or things that we definitely should keep because we’re hearing a lot of good compliments,” she said. “We’re just trying to figure out what are ways to grow or what are ways to maintain.”
The event is 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the SSTU Living Room. Students can register by going to http://vhub.at/southevents.
Students should come prepared with any questions and concerns they have. Pizza will be provided.
