While one lot has closed, student parking on SE Campus is about to become more spacious.
Construction has begun on a new 650-space, concrete parking lot to replace the old concrete and asphalt lot that closed at the northeast corner of the campus.
While under construction, a temporary gravel lot south of the construction area has the same number of spaces as the old lot, said Michael Cinatl, dual credit program director.
In addition to the parking spaces, trees will also be planted, and the new lot will be equipped with permanent lighting.
“A construction entrance has been built at the northeast end of the campus,” Cinatl said. To aid in traffic flow, the entrance will become concrete and serve as an additional student entrance once construction work is complete.
The lot should be complete in December, building services administrative assistant Lynette Henshaw said.
