Administrators are taking steps to assuage parking difficulties on TR East Campus.
Skilled trade technician Steve Jackson, at the college’s request, repainted 20 parking spaces in the TREC lot Sept. 29, changing them from faculty spaces to student spaces.
“Eighteen to 20 spots that were once staff we changed to student,” Jackson said.
“They made some extra ones for staff, and they weren’t using them so we converted them.”
TR Campus vice president of academic affairs Bryan Stewart, who took the lead in this issue, said he’s been keeping track of the situation since the campus opened.
More spaces can potentially be converted, but he said he wants to study any effects of this change first.
“I think there’s 40 more we could consider repainting. We’ll probably do 20 or more,” he said. “I want to see that parking lot on a Tuesday or a Thursday.”
