NE physical therapy assistant students educated more than 50 people during their Open House Poster Presentation April 12.
The demonstrations included assignments where students created presentations on a disease.
The posters included details of certain diseases. Students presented on 23 different diseases, describing them and explaining why physical therapy is necessary to heal them.
Student Kelli Badeaux said the project was a good learning tool for her and her classmates.
“As we will be joining clinical very soon, it’s important for us to know about what kind of diseases we deal with everyday,” she said.
Ken Stapleton said his PTA classes have helped him see the value of physical therapy.
“I know only medications are never enough to heal any disease,” he said. “If a sick person just sits, he will get worse. Physical therapy is always necessary.”
Program coordinator Jill Pool explained the assignment’s purpose.
“We do this every year because I want my students to learn what they will be doing in the future,” Pool said.
