The SE Campus theater program is offering students a quick and different alternative to classic theater.

The Ten-Minute Play Festival will present four 10-minute long, student-written plays.

The four plays are Home Sweet Home by Kristen Lee, In Salvation — Saving Grace by Emily Blackmon and Raymond Ruffin, MetAMORfosis by Carlos Romero and Just Ten Minutes by Dennis Martin.

Blackmon, who is also a lead character in her play, said it was a big shock to have her play chosen for the festival and to also be cast for a lead character.

“Students should come to the festival because it is so much fun to learn and watch,” Blackmon said. “I love to inspire and create.”

Shelby Griffin, director of In Salvation — Saving Grace said the experience is short, fun and experimental.

“If students want edgy, fun plays, these are the ones to go to,” she said.

Speech and drama associate professor Pert Durapau said the festival is a great event for people to see and that all students, faculty and staff involved worked hard to get there.

The performances are 7:30-9 p.m. Feb. 22-24 with an extra matinee show at 1:30 p.m. the 24th. General admission is $6, children 17 and younger and seniors 65 and older are $3.

The plays will be held in the C.A. Roberson Theatre.
