Sept. 16 SE will offer a final showing of the documentary The New Juarez 9:35-11 a.m. in the ESCC HUB. The film depicts the state of drug violence in modern-day Juarez, Mexico. The screening will be followed by a discussion in the SE library classroom 11:45 a.m.–1 p.m.

Sept. 16 NE students can meet The New Juarez director Charlie Minn 9-10 a.m. in the Darlage Center Corner (NSTU 1615A). Minn will share his account of what happened during the drug violence in Juarez, Mexico, and answer questions.

Sept. 16 South’s LASSO is celebrating La Independencia 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on the SSTU patio. Students can learn about the independence of various Latin American countries with live entertainment and food.

Sept. 16 Documentarian Charlie Minn (The New Juarez) will speak 3-4 p.m. in the SSTU Living Room on South Campus. Minn will discuss the violence and tragedies in Mexico as well as his new film about 43 missing students from Guerrero.

Sept. 23 South Campus student activities will host a Hispanic-Serving Institutions Fair 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in the SSTU dining hall. Hispanic-serving institutions are colleges where Hispanic students contribute 25 percent of the total enrollment. Sept. 23 The SE library will offer a partial screening of the film Documented 2:20-3:40 p.m. The documentary by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Jose Antonio Vargas sheds light on the struggles faced by those seeking citizenship.
