Fashion show to teach students appropriate work attire
Strutting down the runway, students will dress for the jobs they want, not the jobs they have.
NE career services will host Dress for Success noon-1:30 p.m. Nov. 27 in NSTU by the Subway on NE Campus.
The fashion show gives all students the opportunity to dress up and be models for the day, as well as teaches them what to wear in professional settings, said Stephanie Rettig, NE career services coordinator and organizer of the event.
“While we all have our own unique style and flare, it is still more important than ever to make sure you dress professionally when interviewing, networking, and even once you are offered the job,” Rettig said, adding that making a great first impression can help people get ahead of other applicants.

New York & Co. as well as Men’s Warehouse will help out with the event, a partnership Rettig said she is excited about.
“I think the fashion show can influence students in several ways. Students can get an idea of what professional attire looks like and see pieces they may want to add to their collection for future interviews,” Rettig said.
She said she believes Dress for Success will influence faculty members as they teach career readiness in and out of class, and give instructors and staff members ideas for what to wear to work for themselves.
This will be Rettig’s second fashion show at TCC. She said she believes she has helped improve the event that’s been around since she joined the staff at the NE Campus in 2017.
“We have worked to make it fun and entertaining,” she said. “It isn’t just an opportunity to watch the show and have some food. Students can also connect with employers hiring, which makes it a very multi-functional event.”
